Clean Backups Using Windows Server Backup and EBS Snapshots

This technical article explains how to overcome NTFS's lack of point-in-time snapshot support on AWS EC2 instances running Windows Server 2008 R2. It details a solution using Windows Server Backup with VSS for clean file copies, storing them on a dedicated EBS volume, and then using a scheduled PowerShell script to create and manage EBS snapshots of that backup volume.
