Introducing IGEL an instruction-tuned German large Language Model

This article introduces IGEL, a family of instruction-tuned German large language models. The first version, instruct-igel-001, is a proof-of-concept built on the BLOOM model, fine-tuned with a translated German instruction dataset. It covers the model's purpose, technical details, availability on Hugging Face, usage examples, known limitations, and future development plans.
