No Unattainable Intelligence

This article analyzes two common phrases in tech communities: "According to people much smarter than me..." and "This is a dumb question, but...". It argues that while often used to be modest and welcoming, these phrases can unintentionally reinforce the damaging perception that exceptional intelligence is required for competency, widening the gap between newcomers and experts. The author suggests alternative, more inclusive language to foster better community building.
